I used my emails for business and last year they deleted my invoices and my folders. My passwords were changing every time I went to log in. When spoke to support nothing they can do. CHANGE MY PASSWORD THEY SAID.
I have been getting an avalanche of spam from 'email@myip' which ends with thousands of numerical combinations. AOL's spam setting deletes the addresses I save to prevent that. I believe AOL is getting paid to be complicit with this spammer.
There are emails that AOL will not block. Some of them are serious about getting your information, they used to have an email address so you could put a stop to some of these people. aol_phish^abuse, Guess what. They closed that email address down and now want you to pay to get protection for your account. I have been an AOL member since I first got a computer. I guess it is time to find a new service provider and tell AOL, they are worthless as they feel their customers are worthless unless you pay monthly fees for this service which they call 'protection'.
EVERYTHING IS WRONG ABOUT AOL CHARGING CUSTOMERS FOR SIMPLE SERVICES LIKE RESETTING SERVER NAMES. I was experiencing issues with receiving and sending emails because of server settings. I think it's HORRIBLE AOL wanted to charge me to resolve the issue. I contacted Apple and they helped me for free. Shame on AOL! I am planning to eventually move to another provider.
I called AOL customer service today to try to figure out why I cannot get my email on a regular basis. They were more than willing to connect me with technical support for my credit card number. I refused I am so very disappointed in the customer service. I have been with them for 12 years and this is the treatment I received. It’s a very sad situation.

I have tried for over half a year to close my AOL account but after hours of trying and numerous phone calls to CS, am still unable to close it. This sb investigated by the FCC and state attorney generals.
Why are we (Assist members) now being screen to confirm we are a member? Are they the FBI, giving us the 3rd degree? Every time we call assist to get help? Why can they not just gives us or ask for our security code of some other #?
AOL has the worst Customer Service. Every time I have had to call, I get someone in ROMANIA or the PHILIPPINES. They do NOT help; they ONLY care about getting ALL of your personal contact info., and then they SELL IT. I am FED-UP with AOL, and NOT getting my Technical questions answered, because 'You are NOT a Paying Customer'. I am a Verizon Customer but STILL can't get a question answered. These nuts tell me, 'They don't know'. Then WHY are they employed by AOL when they can't answer a technical questions. I HATE AOL. They are the WORST. I called six times, today, with the same question, and NO ANSWER. AOL should be SHUT-DOWN. Bring those jobs back to the USA, NOW!!
Since Verizon flipped my email to AOL I have not been able to receive tech assistance from AOL unless I pay for support. When I contacted Verizon about this they claim that paying for tech support is not necessary since I am a Verizon customer. Who is to blame? Who will resolve?
Requested help installing AOL GOLD, 'Honey Martin' called. Although the display on home phone read 'Unknown' it was mere minutes since I'd requested help online w/ installing AOL GOLD. 'Honey **' instructed me to download/install/run unfamiliar programs. At point when final program needed to be downloaded & run --- it freezes. He is extremely rude; statements like, 'What are you waiting for?' etc. At one point in frustration I mentioned I was half-crazy from all of this; his reply? 'No, you're all-crazy.' (Mentioned I'd had a concussion last mo.).
He then told me BOTH laptop and desktop are COMPLETELY CORRUPTED, that's why AOL GOLD won't install, and displays a full-page list of Hackers on my screen, informs me they can get into everything we own: home, bank accts, med records, et al. We'd never be able to use a computer here again, because they had our ISP. However, AOL has 'Hacker program' that anti-virus programs can't handle. Price for same ranged from $395 a year to $1,100+ for 3 years, and up. I said we couldn't afford it; he answers 'You're kidding!' When I said I'd have trouble buying my medicine due to a PayPal theft Feb 2, he audibly scoffed. (PayPal sent Cash to unk person in another country. I've been fighting w/ PayPal & the thief for 3-4 days.).
BTW: Earlier 'Honey' asked if I'd done anything 'different' lately and I mentioned this incident, steps I'd taken, hoping it would help. He immediately castigated me for 'talking too much, running on & on when I should be listening.' I followed his instructions instantly; if I wasn't swift enough it was due to system intermittently hanging out. Explained those occurrences to Mr. Irritable. I finally ended conversation because I wasn't about to pay 4-figures for his Magic Program & doubted his veracity. He called back again/asked if screen still up, but not to use the mouse. He then remotely removed EVERYTHING ON MY DESKTOP. (Like I don't know how to remedy that.). IF this 'HONEY **' person is genuine, he should be fired. On the bright side, although he did have a foreign accent I could understand every word he said -- he's becoming quite fluent.
View moreAOL mail is down for 4 days and tech support states that you must pay $14.99/month for further assistance in troubleshooting my account. No manager available or responding. It's been days and I just want to access my emails without paying some scam fees.
Been a customer of AOL since they took over Compuserv. A very long time. So I just got used to paying the annual subscription which is my stupidity, during my tax review this year I noticed they double charged me in 2018. After a frustrating attempt to use their chat service I was eventually routed to a phone number where I was informed they hadn't billed me for 2017 so just added it to 2018. I asked what the services were and was told it was dial-up internet (who uses that these days) and AOL desktop software (that stopped working years ago forcing me to browser only email) plus a MacAfee subscription that I dont need as my bank provides it free.
I stopped the renewal and converted to free email account but was told there could be no refund for the remaining 4 months of 'services' as refunds are only allowed in the first 3 months... Funny that they had no problem billing for prior years... but they wouldn't budge. Nice to know that my 20 plus years as a customer translates into being an over trusting idiot paying money for nothing. Shame on you AOL.
View moreWife's AOL email became inaccessible. Had multiple calls where they continued to say it was our problem. Used different devices, device types and browsers. Finally they admitted there were others also having issue. One rep commented about a server migration. They escalated and said they'd bet back to us. We called them again several more times, each time with no updates, refusal to let us escalate further. Over 2 months without access. Absolutely unacceptable they could just refuse to restore her mail, and now they're charging us for support we're not getting!!! How does someone sue them??
Called AOL customer service, first person talked to could not help, asked for supervisor she kept refusing to get one, finally she put one on. He could not help and then refused to put his supervisor on. He refused.
I have had an AOL email for year now. A couple of days ago I was locked out of my account. I contacted AOL and was told they would need all my details including Photo ID, proof of address and several other things. I gave them everything but they still would not let me back into my account. To make matters worse it was still possible for people to send emails but I could not access them. To people it would look like I was ignoring them. I asked to have the address deactivated, they refused this also. Seems to me that AOL are just interested in Data Mining. A real bunch of **.
I have had an AOL account for more years than I can remember. It is not my primary email but I do have certain things sent to that email. I went to it today and could not access as they said my pw changed. I went to reset it and the secondary email address they show does not belong to me at all. I finally got a rep on the phone and she acknowledged my name to the account name but could not help me in any way get my account back. Since I have had this account for probably more than 10-15 years I frankly cannot remember what my recovery email account might be or if I even have it any longer.
They just kept saying they couldn't help so all my contacts and the info going there is being used by someone else yet AOL could care less. Why can't they look into the secondary email acct they now show and see who the hell this is. I am extremely upset with the lack of assistance. Again my problem appears to be that being a AOL customer for so long the support info, number and secondary email may have changed. I just cannot believe all they said is they are sorry. Well how about checking the secondary email now showing on my stolen account. AOL SUCKS.
View moreEvery month I am locked out of my emails at AOL. I called this morning to get back in and after being asked several questions about my sent and received emails I was hung up on. I asked for a supervisor and he was just as harassing as the 2 reps were. I spent a total of 50 minutes trying to get on my emails with no success or help from the AOL reps. This was very frustrating and upsetting. The supervisor hung up on me because I told him I do not have this problem with Gmail only AOL.
I feel this was harassment because I do not pay for the account. No matter how many questions I answered they still asked more and then hung up on me. Horrible company as well as their news is so bias and against our president and ** people. If I did not start with them 15 years ago and have over 1300 emails that are important I would not go to them again. All I received was harassment and was hung up on twice. Rude non-concerned customer service. STAY AWAY FROM THEM IF YOU DID NOT START WITH THEM, AND GET OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN IF YOU CAN.
View moreI had AOL as my business email. I had all of my contacts, and extremely important documents in my email account. One day I went to log in and everything was gone. AOL deleted everything and refused to retrieve it. They ruined my business and now my kids can't eat. They should be shut down, they destroy lives.
Since migrating my Verizon emails with AOL as required with Verizon Triple Play, AOL emails are slow, often prompt you for passwords even though your email client is configured correctly (I use the latest version of Outlook), and Gmails linger in the drafts email box even though they appear to be sent. If you call customer service, they want to convert you to a paying customer even though it's part of the contracted Verizon Triple Play. If you don't pay, they're not very cooperative. The reality is you're not obligated to give them anything as they're a subsidiary of Verizon.
I called AOL customer service to unlock my mom's email account. It was locked for 12 hours after we forgot her password and tried 3 old passwords which ended up being wrong. My experience with customer service was completely useless and frustrating. I explained my situation and the representative said that because the account was locked, she couldn’t see any information about the account or do anything. She said to wait 12 hours and try another password.
From good customer service, I would expect that AOL would have a business process for the representative to help me unlock the account or recover the password. Apparently there is no such thing, so we have to wait 12 hours to do anything. Additionally, 12 hours is a long wait time. 1 or even 2 hours would be fine. But 12? This is a frustrating and a bad business practice. As the customer, I am annoyed and disappointed. I will encourage my mom to switch to Gmail.
View moreAOL goes down entirely too often! Today I can't send email. Tech issues it reports. So I try to contact my subscription to AOL Assist $20 per month, and go thru their menu requesting tech support and they hang up! It is Christmas Eve however why not a message to that effect?
I installed ISP.com and later was forced to install AOL dialer. Isp.com then developed a modem problem. I reinstalled Juno, but it did not work. I installed Juno on an earlier computer and it worked except for the password. When I installed dialer, Juno would not work at all. The computer now has a modem problem that it didn't have moments earlier. It appears that any computer with Aol dialer will have a modem problem. Aol will work, but no other Internet provider will. The user must continue with Aol and its problems or get (buy) another computer and start over. Aol totally quit, so I had to buy another computer.
One morning I woke up to 3000 spam emails delivered in a 2 hour period. In my shock and dismay I immediately deleted all the emails and in my panic deleted all my saved emails as well. I called AOL immediately and they told me not to worry all the emails can be retrieved within 7 days of deletion. That was two months ago. I called every day for two weeks and they always told me they were aware of the problem and I wasn't the only customer in the same situation. It was being addressed by senior techs and they will contact me ASAP. (They never did.) I called yesterday and am now being told I am S.O.L. My emails are gone and that's the end of that. I had online vouchers totaling over $500 which are completely dead now. AOL once the absolute leader in email and online presence is now just a sad and pathetic shell which is obviously heading fast down the highway to oblivion. After 17 years as a loyal subscriber all I can say is 'Thanks for Nothing'.
I had the misfortune to get involved with AOL Gold because I believed they were going to cut off my 9.7 version. I was the dope who fell for this as others I know still running 9.7 and paying nothing. It’s slow, hangs up, and issues every day. All efforts to revert back to 9.7 were blocked by AOL IT. I could not even reinstall AOL Gold with an experienced tech at my house. I kept it because of fav places. All efforts to import fav places into a browser, any browser not possible. Discussions with AOL indicated that all fav places were now part of their proprietary Gold software and no file available to import into ANY browser. This is beyond the pale and bad business practice. If anyone has found a solution to importing favorite places into IE or any other browser, let me know.
I've been with AOL for 20 years and it gets worse every day. Personnel aren't trained to figure out or help with anything. Their accounting dept has charged me for services I want discontinued. Their billings have caused me $$$ problems and service charges and are building up at my bank. I spent over 60 hours and 5 days with AOL and my problems have still not been resolved. I took out ASSIST and they're no help except they answer the phone faster. Their email program is very unreliable too. Everybody that uses them is very unsatisfied. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO AOL IF YOU WANT SERVICE.
I can no longer get into any of my AOL emails that I have had for YEARS. I have received so many scams and phishing emails and AOL does NOTHING about it.
There is no customer service, there is no help for issues and I have now switched to another provider that is more secure and clear of scam. ** off AOL. You've fallen behind the times!
AOL mail keeps going down daily. They make excuses on their FB and keep saying they are working hard which is not the case. Trying to call customer service is a joke. Their guy said there was no issue on AOL end but AOL posted on Facebook that it is an issue on their end. Stop lying and saying to be patient. When you use AOL for a business there is no patience anymore. With all the competitors, you would think they would be good, but they don't care about their customers.
AOL Customer service is a joke. Don't waste your time with people that either don't understand or don't care. GO ELSEWHERE. Any IP that provides a service has to be WILL be better than AOL. TRUST ME... Try it. Good Luck.
AOL email was down 3 times in October 2018. Now it is down again November 5, 2018. AOL email reliability is terrible. Email service was much better before Verizon handed email over to AOL. I want to keep my Verizon email address, but AOL email service is intolerable.
Please stop with the shocking, sad, AOL human Freak show tabloid headlines. Often just awful, pain to another human being, in a most freakish way, and the worst in arrogance, bad taste. A disgrace. No interest in health issues, or broader, informative view - just constant Freak Show Headlines. Please Cease and Desist. It's a horror.
